The Gospel Doesn't End at Easter
A Resurrection Reminder for the Days After the Empty Tomb
It started before sunrise.
A few faithful women went to Jesus’ tomb, hearts heavy with grief, carrying spices—not for a celebration, but a funeral. But instead of death, they found life. Instead of a sealed tomb, an empty one. And instead of silence, a declaration from heaven:
“Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen.” (Luke 24:5–6, ESV)
And just like that, everything changed.
Not just for them, but for us.
We don’t gather after Easter because of a seasonal tradition or pastel-colored nostalgia. We gather because Jesus Christ walked out of His own grave. The resurrection isn’t a symbol—it’s a fact. A foundation. The center of the gospel.
But even in the first century, just decades after the resurrection, people started drifting. They softened the gospel. They reshaped it to fit their comfort zones. Paul saw it happening in Corinth, so he wrote:
“I would remind you… of the gospel… by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you…” (1 Corinthians 15:1–2, ESV)
Church, we need that same reminder.
Because the temptation hasn’t gone away. Like Thomas Jefferson with his razor blade Bible, we’re still tempted to trim the parts of Jesus we find uncomfortable. We keep the love but cut the wrath. We highlight the compassion and ignore the cross.
But a gospel that doesn’t bleed can’t save.
A Jesus who didn’t die for sin—and rise in victory—is no Savior at all. The gospel is not ours to edit. It’s God’s to proclaim.
And this gospel? It’s not done working.
Jesus is still saving. The Holy Spirit is still calling. The resurrection isn’t just history—it’s a forecast. It’s the promise of what’s coming for all who trust in Christ.
So don’t let Easter be an ending. Let it be a launching pad.
Continue to live in light of the empty tomb.
Continue to hold fast to the true gospel.
And continue to share this hope with a world full of edited versions of Jesus.
He is risen. He is reigning. And He is returning.
Let’s be found faithful when He comes.
