Hey everyone! I'm Joshua! I grew up in Hurricane, WV about 40 minutes from Kenova. My wife, Desiree, affectionately referred to as "Wifie" grew up in Wheeling, WV about 4 hours from Kenova. So both of us are natives of the Mountain State.
I graduated from Marshall University in 2006 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Religious Studies and a minor in Parks and Recreation. Wifie graduated from Malone College (now University) in 2004 with a Bachelor's in Communication and Theatre. She completed her Masters in Theatre Education and Drama Ministry in the Church in 2006 at Regent University in Virginia Beach. Immediately following her graduation she became a professor of theatre at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.
Desiree and I were wed on 06/07/08... thank God that is pretty cool, huh? After our wedding and an absolutely phenomal honey moon, we came here to First Baptist Kenova where I started as the Minister to Youth and Families.
We love youth! They are fun, full of energy, enlightening, and an everlasting reminder to invest in your future! We have the privililege of shepherding the 7th - 12th grade students in Kenova and surrounding cities in Wayne County.
Our youth group is piloting a new name and look this year... we once were given an amazing Garage from which we ministed to youth in this town. After the Garage was demoed in late 2008, we revamped our name and were given the Family Life Center. We now celebrate reaching the most influential group of people in our world today... TEENS, through Rush Youth Ministries! Christ in students is the power, the presence, and the movement that will transform our communities, our region, our state, and our contry into followers of Jesus Christ! Christ was present in Acts 2 when the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles to preach at Pentecost. Today, He can be just as present in the lives of our youth and more powerful than we ever believed!
May it be that, from this Church, a power, a presence, and a movement are begun that will catch the attention of the world for the name sake of Jesus the Christ! Experience the Rush!!
