FOOD REVOLUTION
 Two years ago, Pastor Steve began noticing the vast amount of health problems in our area were due to complications relating to being overweight. Culturally, the church addresses what happens when we smoke too much, drink too much -- but how about when we EAT too much? What happens when we eat processed foods to the point that we aren't getting the nutrients our bodies need?
As Pastor Steve began addressing the issue within our congregation, a national report from the Center for Disease Control was released which deemed our area the most obese and unhealthy city in America. We knew we had a problem, but we didn't know it was that bad. We truly were the most obese city, in the most obese region, in the most obese country in the world! Soon thereafter, Pastor Steve's sermons on gluttony were picked up by national news and the message started going out: We needed a FOOD REVOLUTION!
Nine months ago, producers from ABC came to our area wanting to film a reality show focusing on good health and proper nutrition. They had heard about what was happening at FBC Kenova and wanted to enlist our people to assist world-renowned chef JAMIE OLIVER in bringing his MINISTRY OF FOOD to Huntington, WV.
The results of Jamie's Oliver's FOOD REVOLUTION were featured on a six-week, prime-time television series that recently concluded on ABC. To see excerpts from the show click on this link and check out Episode 101. Our church is featured 101 and in the finale 106.
